If you are unfortunate with the Danish weather or you feel like a comfortable voyage of discovery, the obvious choice is to see the national park through the car window. If children are in the car the excursion can be made into a small safari through the wild nature and animal life of the park. Take a drive along Kystvejen by the sea between Hanstholm and Klitmøller. You can choose to stop on the road and take a walk into the game reserve of Hanstholm (note that there is only access to the game reserve from 16 July to 31 March - it is closed during the bird breeding time). If you are quiet, you may be able to see deer and stags, and by the lakes and heather bogs, you can see birds that do not breed any other place in Denmark . Along Kystvejen and at the plantations, there are car parks that form the start point for marked hiking routes.

At Stenbjerg Landingplace you find the first small information center of the national park. It is open daily from April through October, from 13-17. This is a good place to start further exploration.
